BFGoodrich® Tires Bringing Baja Champion Tire & Contingency To KOH

BFGoodrich® Tires Bringing Baja Champion Tire and Contingency Program To King of the Hammers
GREENVILLE, SC (Jan 12, 2014) – On the heels of one of the most successful desert racing seasons in recent memory, BFGoodrich® Tires is highlighting its championship race tire products and a strong contingency program for the winner of the 2015 Nitto King of the Hammers held February 6 in Johnson Valley, Calif.
Once again this year, BFGoodrich Tires will offer racers a $5000 contingency award for the winner of the King of the Hammers race if running on its product. Additionally, the company will offer a $2500 award for the winner of the Smittybilt Every Man Challenge if on BFGoodrich products
BFGoodrich is highlighting its Baja T/A® KR2-S tire, purpose built for the extreme terrain and varying speeds and conditions synonymous with the King of the Hammers event. The tire is based on the foundation and structure of the KR2 race tire that dominated the desert race season in 2014, which included overall wins at the SCORE Baja 500 and 1000.
The contingency prize is available for the winner of the King of the Hammers if they are running BFGoodrich tires, have BFGoodrich decals on the car and a BFGoodrich approved patch on the drivers suit.  Decals can be acquired at the semi during the week or during contingency on Wednesday afternoon.
The BFGoodrich Tires team will be onsite and offering pit support during the race and tire and engineering support leading up to the race.
There are a significant number of drivers that will take on the harshest terrain, not only in Ultra 4 racing but in all of desert racing in the United States using BFGoodrich Tires.  Notably, BFGoodrich Performance Team members Rob MacCachren, the 2015 SCORE Baja 1000 champion will join forces with veteran Lance Clifford in the Poison Spyder built vehicle. This will be MacCachren’s second foray into Ultra 4 racing.  Additionally, fellow BFGoodrich Performance Team members Casey Currie, Brad Lovell and Roger Lovell will be entered into the race. Other long-standing BFGoodrich Tires racers include former King of the Hammers champion Randy Slawson and last year’s top finisher on BFGoodrich Tires – Tom Wayes.
The full BFGoodrich Tires support team will be available at the semi lining pit row on Griffin Expressway Monday thru Saturday morning for any type of tire support.  The recommended tires for the King of the Hammers race are the 39” BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2-S, built on the KR2 desert racing platform with specified compounds to provide unsurpassed performance in both the rocks and open desert. The recommended tires for the  Every Man Challenge race include the DOT Blue Label Krawler T/A KX or the Mud-Terrain T/A KM2.
