Proposed 2022 4900 classes

*** please note update at the bottom of the page – updated 7/28/2021 ***
In an effort to align UTV rules across race series, event organizers have been working on a more uniform set of rules and classes for UTV’s in the sport. This has been discussed and vetted across multiple race organizations (and manufacturers) and we would like your feedback and comments during this open feedback period.
Please review the proposed classes below.
You feedback and input is welcome and requested. Please contact Dave Cole at dave@ultra4racing.com or via phone at 909-273-0216.
The open comment and feedback period ends July 31st, so please have your voice heard.

*** UPDATED / ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ***

Thank you everyone for the abundance of feedback on the UTV Rules.  I would like to clarify a few things, provide some more details, and, based on the feedback, make some changes.
Stock Pan = The lower half of a UTV, lower link mounts, engine mounts, etc
Stock pickup points = Suspension Arm mounting points, not including the shock mounts
We will address/define this with more clarity in the final rules.
I was asked a few times today, “why?”.  Here’s my thought process.  The upper end competitors that are racing more than a few times a year are junking their chassis every year because the stock chassis cannot be glued back together over and over.  That’s the reason to allow the full custom chassis in Pro Modified.  The casual racer, of which the majority of the entries, can’t and won’t invest that level of money, time, and effort to compete with the upper end teams.  Pro Modified will be our premier UTV Class.  That will be validated by the purse being higher in that class than Pro Stock.  Pro Stock will have a sizable purse but cater to the teams that either don’t race as often or choose to race the stock pan.  Open is both a catchall for cars that don’t fit into the new rule as well as a proving ground/laboratory to go build your dreams.  Unlimited is a placeholder for when the much rumored “Big Motor” cars hit the market.  Those cars are rumored to be in the 300+ Hp range so for all the 4400 guys worried about running them over, you have to catch them first.  Secondarily, in conversations today, an oversight in how we tech cars was pointed out.  We require door/intrusion bars in the big cars.  If a UTV wants to run with the 4400 class, they will need to meet 4400 tech rules for safety.
Changes based on your feedback.  Aftermarket Steering Racks are back in for Stock.  It is obvious that they are needed to field a competitive car and the price point is not significant relative to existing costs.  I am also open to some variation of front Diff and for that matter, all drive train parts, can be swapped to other model/year alternatives (You can put an RS1 Diff in your XP).  The last grey area that needs to be worked out is body panels in the rear of the Pro Stock Class.  We will develop language that allows for spare tire while still retaining the stock look.
I appreciate the feedback, keep it coming.  We will be wrapping this up by the end of the week.
